Restoring "Wet Look" Lacquer

When Wet Look Lacquer is applied incorrectly: The proper steps on how to solve the issues.

When Wet Look Lacquer, a solvent based, VOC (volatile organic compounds) compliant product is used on pavers it can bring out the colors and the richness of the product - after all, that is the purpose of using concrete pavers instead of concrete. The pavers that were installed in the photos were in two houses next door to each other in Suffolk County, NY, sold by Hewlyn Mason and Landscape Supply. The issue, what we determined was that the contractor applied the sealer too fast and too thick. (Better to use multiple thin coats than heavy coats).

We found the best solution to remove the extra lacquer was to use lacquer thinner. With a stiff brush we dipped into the solvent and massaged it over the pavers. This removed the top, milky layer from the pavers and re-emulsified the Wet Look Lacquer. This is a quick and painless way to make the colors shine through. If too much of the lacquer is removed, a thin coat of the Wet Look can make the pavers look even and uniform. more pictures of the before and after

The end user has a few thousand square feet of pavers to clean. A sure indicator was the that contractor used 2 - 3 times the recommended amount of Wet Look to complete the job. See more of the Wet Look Lacquer Wet Look Lacquer
